i9 Sports Association provided more than 98 Grants in 2008

(Brandon, Fla) i9 Sports announced that 98 Youth Sports grants were awarded to economically disadvantaged children in 2008 through its charitable organization, i9 Sports Association. This not-for-profit effort was created by i9 Sports, the leading provider of youth sports leagues and camps for boys and girls.

“Every child should have the opportunity to play a sport,” expressed i9 Sports Founder and CEO Frank Fiume. “Can you imagine how different your values… your character would be if you didn’t play a sport as a kid? A lot of what I practice in business today comes from what I learned on the ball field when I was growing up. That kind of thing sticks with you for a lifetime.”

Fiume learned of the growing number of children who could not play because their families couldn’t afford to pay for organized sports programs. He was eager to do something about it. “Nowadays it’s not safe for kids to throw together a neighborhood football game in the street. If they’re going to play sports, it’s pretty much got to be in an organized program. i9 Sports Associations provides kids with that opportunity.”

At minimal or no cost to the parent/guardian, grant recipients enjoy participation in an i9 Sports program with a wide variety of sports from which to choose. i9 Sports core sports are flag football, basketball, soccer and cheerleading. Sports available vary by location.
